Sea Power, Money Power
TITLE: Sea Power, Money Power’’: Ghanaian Migrant Fishermen and Women in the Republic of Benin.

ABSTRACT
This book captures the movements of populations and constant changes in political boundaries which have affected the demographic and cultural development of Ghana and Benin. It seeks to examine the demographic characteristics of the migrants fishermen and women, the motivation for migrating and the business organisation of migrant fishermen and women-e.g. equipment, finance and sharing of proceeds. The book also carefully looks into the significant role of women among the migrant fishermen and women. It throws more light on the social organisation of migrant fishermen and their relationship with the host community. The voices that resonate in this book tell the story of the problems and challenges associated with migrant fishing, and the effects of migration on individual fishermen and women, hometown and host community.
