TITLE:There is Money in the Sea: Ghanaian Migrant Fishermen and Women in the Ivory Coast

ABSTRACT

 Historically, the Ivory Coast is one of the countries where Ghanaian fishermen have extended their fishing operations. Undoubtedly, it is understandable considering the proximity to Ghana and the historical and cultural relationship between Ghana and the Ivory Coast. It is against this strong background that this study examines the factors that promote migration to Ivory Coast in the Artisanal marine industry in Ghana. It plays emphasis also on the types of fishing methods used by the migrants and the organisation of the business. The book reflects on gender relations, relationship between migrants and the host country and the contributions made to the development of the host and home communities.
